Terms of Service

Effective 29 August 2026 · Last updated 29 August 2026

The short version

Fixr introduces customers to independent repair professionals and holds the payment in escrow until the job is confirmed done. We are the marketplace, not the repairer — the work itself is a contract between you and the artisan. We take 10% of the agreed job price. Pay through the app: it is what protects you, and taking the job off-platform forfeits that protection.

1. Agreement to these terms

These terms are a binding agreement between you and Prodbuild Solutions Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a private company limited by shares registered in Nigeria under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020, registration number RC 9083682, of Lagos, Nigeria. Prodbuild Solutions Ltd owns and operates the Fixr app and website ("Fixr").

By creating an account or using Fixr, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use Fixr.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into contracts.

2. What Fixr is — and is not

Fixr is a marketplace. We introduce customers who need repairs to independent artisans who perform them, we provide the tools to agree a price and communicate, and we hold payment in escrow until the work is confirmed complete.

Artisans on Fixr are independent contractors, not our employees. They are not our agents, partners or representatives. The contract for the repair work is between the customer and the artisan directly. We do not perform the work, supervise it, control how it is done, or guarantee its quality or outcome.

We verify each artisan's identity before approving them, and we show you their ratings and completed job history. Verification confirms who someone is. It is not a warranty of their skill, competence, honesty or the quality of any particular job. Use your own judgement, read the reviews, and do not admit anyone to your home you are not comfortable with.

3. Your account

  • Give accurate information when you register, and keep it current.
  • One account per person. Do not create an account for someone else or share yours.
  • Keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • Tell us immediately at support@hirefixr.com if you think your account has been compromised.

You can delete your account at any time — see our account deletion page.

4. How jobs and quotes work

  1. A customer posts a job describing the problem, with an address and optionally photos or a voice note.
  2. We notify verified artisans who work in that trade and are online nearby — within about 10 km, or up to 50 km if the customer widens the search.
  3. Interested artisans send quotes: a price, a message and an estimated arrival time. A quote expires 30 minutes after it is sent if the customer has not selected it.
  4. The customer selects one quote. All other quotes on that job are then declined.
  5. The customer funds escrow. The artisan travels to the job and updates its status as they go.
  6. The artisan marks the work complete; the customer confirms; the payment is released.
  7. Both parties can rate each other.

A quoted price is the artisan's offer for the work as described. If the job turns out to be materially different from the description, the artisan may decline to proceed at that price — agree any change between yourselves before the work starts.

5. Payment and escrow

Customers pay the quoted amount up front through Paystack. We hold it in escrow. It is not released to the artisan when they arrive, or when they say they have finished — only when the customer confirms the job is done.

This protects both sides: the artisan knows the money exists before travelling, and the customer knows it is not released until the work is actually complete.

Card details are handled entirely by Paystack. Fixr never receives or stores them.

Customers may add an optional tip after confirming completion. Tips pass to the artisan in full — we take no commission on them.

6. Our commission

Fixr charges a 10% commission on the agreed job price, deducted from the amount released to the artisan. If a job is quoted at ₦20,000, the customer pays ₦20,000 and the artisan receives ₦18,000.

Customers pay no separate fee — the price quoted is the price paid. We will give notice in the app before any change to this rate.

7. Cancellations and refunds

Customers can cancel a job at any point before the artisan has accepted and started work — that is, while awaiting quotes, after selecting an artisan, or after funding escrow but before acceptance. If escrow was funded, it is refunded to the original payment method. Refunds are processed by Paystack and typically take a few business days to appear.

Once work has started, a job can no longer be cancelled unilaterally in the app. At that point the artisan may have travelled, bought materials or begun work. Raise a dispute instead.

Artisans who accept a job and then cannot attend must say so immediately through the app so the customer can find someone else. Repeatedly abandoning accepted jobs will cost you access to the platform.

8. Disputes

If work is incomplete, defective, or not what was agreed, do not confirm completion. Contact support@hirefixr.com promptly and tell us what happened.

We will review the job record, the messages between you, and any photos, and we will try to broker a fair resolution — which may mean releasing the payment, refunding it, or splitting it. We will act reasonably and in good faith, but we are a marketplace rather than a court, and our resolution does not remove your right to pursue the matter legally.

Raise disputes within 7 days of the job being marked complete, while the facts are still fresh and evidence still exists.

9. Additional terms for artisans

  • You must submit a valid government-issued ID and be approved before receiving work. Submitting a forged or borrowed document is fraud and will result in a permanent ban.
  • You must hold any licence, certification or insurance the law requires for your trade. You are responsible for confirming what applies to you.
  • You are responsible for your own taxes, tools, materials, transport and insurance.
  • Provide bank details that belong to you. We pay out only to the verified account on your profile.
  • Quote honestly. Do not quote low to win a job and raise the price on arrival.
  • Go offline when you are not available, so customers are not left waiting on quotes that will not come.
  • Treat customers' homes and property with care. You are liable for damage you cause.

10. Conduct we do not allow

You must not:

  • Arrange payment outside Fixr for a job that started here. It removes escrow protection from both of you, and it is the single fastest way to lose your account.
  • Post false, misleading or fraudulent information, including fake jobs or fake quotes.
  • Harass, threaten, abuse or discriminate against anyone.
  • Use Fixr for anything unlawful, or for work you are not qualified to perform.
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data, or to interfere with, probe or overload our systems.
  • Scrape the service, or use it to build a competing product.
  • Manipulate ratings, including by creating accounts to review yourself.
  • Upload anything you do not have the right to share, or content that is obscene or infringing.

11. Reviews

Reviews must reflect a genuine experience of a real job. We do not remove reviews simply because they are negative. We will remove reviews that are abusive, contain personal data, are demonstrably false, or were placed to manipulate someone's rating.

By posting a review you grant us the right to display it on Fixr.

12. Our liability

Fixr is provided "as is". We work to keep it available and accurate but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

We are not liable for the acts or omissions of artisans or customers. That includes the quality, timeliness, legality or safety of any work performed, damage to property, injury, or theft. Your contract for the work is with the other party.

To the fullest extent Nigerian law allows, our total liability to you for any claim connected to Fixr is limited to the greater of the commission we earned on the job in question, or ₦50,000. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost income or lost data.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for our own fraud.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that we reasonably suspect of fraud, or that puts other users at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond; for serious matters such as fraud or a safety risk we may act immediately.

If we close your account, funds legitimately owed to you for completed work will still be paid.

You may stop using Fixr at any time and delete your account.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Fixr after that means you accept the revised terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes between you and Fixr are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Nigerian courts. We would much rather resolve things directly — please contact us first.
